I have made a lot of worksheets to help students learn piano keys, but I have not made one for baseball. I have one little guy who just loves the game so I made this for him. In order to save paper and make it more fun for students, I designed it big enough to use on an iPad. If you don’t want to use this on a mobile device, print it out just as you usually do. Be sure to print in landscape orientation. Don’t try to click on the picture above, because that will just pop up a low resolution image that is only for illustration purposes and it does not look good in print or a mobile device. Click the heading under the picture and it will take you to my website where you can print it.
If you want to try it on a mobile device, here is one easy way to download this into Skitch, a free app for Apple and Android.
Directions for using the Skitch app
- Using your iPad, open the Skitch app. On the home page there are several icons on the top row. Select “Web.”
- When the next window opens, there will be a place to type in an address. You will have to open the typing tool. Type in http://www.SusanParadis.com (do not use the address for this blog)
- Select “Worksheets” and scroll way, way down the page until you see number SP614, Let’s Play Ball. Select it and then select “Download”. This opens the Let’s Play Ball printable, but you are not going to print it.
- Turn the iPad to landscape orientation (sideways). Using two fingers, center the graphic exactly like you want it.
- Click the camera icon on the top left side of the app. Skitch saves the graphic and places a tiny icon of it on the home page for future use. You cannot change my graphic (other than crop it or zoom in or out), but you can draw or type all over it.
- Now the student can use the arrow or pencil tool and draw a line from the keyboard to the correct letter.
- The trash can icon at the bottom of the left hand side will clear the graphic of any marks your student makes so that it will be ready for your next student. The third icon down on the left side is the “send to” tool. You can send it to a parent to show them how much your student is learning!
If you want more info on how to use Skitch, see my 2 posts from this past summer.
Disclosure: I have no connection to Skitch whatsoever, nor does the company know I recommend the app, but I’ve found this one is good for piano lessons. I wanted an app that was easy to use and didn’t take much time to learn, and Skitch is my favorite. Leave a comment if you have a favorite app to use with your students. If you like my printables, please go to my Facebook page Susan Paradis’ Piano Teaching Resources and “like” it!

Susan- I just LOVE this baseball theme! Any chance you could make a baseball-themed game out of the Ladybug Game? I have a few boys who would love it!
Suzanne
Suzanne, could you be a little more specific in your request? And do you mean to print out and use, or on the iPad?
Susan- Apologies! I didn’t see your question. No, I meant to take the Ladybug game literally make the same game but just using the baseball theme. (Print out and use) Pdf- like the Ladybug game.
Suzanne, I have been working on a music baseball game to print out, so check back. I’ve tried out a few ideas, so it is a work in progress right now.
Wow! I have been searching on the web and cramming my head to try and think of activities for my beginner piano students, and I have to say this is the first website I have found that is even the least bit helpful. It is amazing and I’m so thankful to have found it. Thank you for all the work you put into putting all your fun ideas online for everyone to see. I am positive I will be using these teacher aids a LOT in the future
Thanks so much Abbey. But look around some more because there is some amazing material out there on other websites, and I am always amazed at their creativity. Check out Pinterest! You will find so much!
Susan
I wonder if anyone has encountered my problem..only a blank sheet appears when I capture the shot. It has worked well before and my beginners ADORE the finger number pages..butI would be thankful if someone has a comment about my problem.
Susanne,
I’ve never had such a problem nor has anyone else mentioned it. You don’t mention what device are you using, but if you are using the iPad, did you recently upgrade to ios6? Have you downloaded the latest upgrade from Skitch? I don’t know about other devices, but I know with the iPad sometimes when you upgrade to the latest ios version, the app doesn’t keep up, and you have to wait for an app upgrade. I have not upgrade to ios6 yet, because I always wait a little until Apple has all the bugs fixed, so I don’t know if that is your problem. It could be that you have a version of Skitch that is too old to work with ios5 or ios6.
For example, after I upgraded to ios5 my Keynote remote app did not work with bluetooth. I was in a bind because I had several presentations coming up and I needed it. I was able to find a workaround.
Go into the reviews of Skitch and see if anyone else has reported the problem. That is what I did with Keynote, and I found a lot of others were having the same problem.
Does it happen to every website you go to? Have you tried using the other tools, such as the photo roll tool, just to see if you could get an image. If the entire app does not work, you can delete it and download it again.
Finally, I would contact Skitch and see if that is a known problem.
Susan
That is exactly what my problem was.. I needed the update. You are such a clever lady..and I thank my lucky stars every teaching day for your wonderful worksheets.
Well, that you so much, Susanne. I’m not that clever, however. I have learned through a lot of trail and error! I’m glad it’s working for you now.
I have been following you for a while and I use a lot of stuff from your website in my teaching. I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done! I am amazed at everything you have created and am so grateful that you share it all. One day I’ll get an ipad but until then, I’m excited to use this worksheet the old fashioned way with one of my students today. He’s going to love it.
Hi Susan, I just tried this on my Kindle and it worked! Thanks, I’m so excited to try this today! You are wonder woman to me!
Thanks for letting us know. I will edit my blog post so that other Kindle users can try it. I’m going to try and showcase all my printables that work well on Skitch.
I absolutely LOVE Skitch and you just gave me a tremendous reason why! Thank you for your clear directions. I downloaded your pdf with ease. I’m posting about Skitch in upcoming blogs and will definitely recommend you for great ideas using this app. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I will be honored if you mention my worksheet in your blog!
Will do…just posted your blog on my facebook page.
I just added a link to your blog, too!
Hey, thanks Susan!
